Ebola disease outbreak - DRC
 Situation overview
On 8 May 2018, the Ministry of Health (MOH) of the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared an outbreak of Ebola virus disease in Bikoro Health Zone, Equateur Province. This is the ninth outbreak of Ebola virus disease over the last four decades in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the most recent occurring in May 2017.
As of 15 May at 8am, 41 cases were reported, including 20 deaths. of the 41 cases, 2 are confirmed, 19 suspected and 20 probable.
Three health zones in the Equateur province of DRC are affected: Bikoro, Iboko and Wangata (Mbandaka).
National and local authorities and partners have moved quickly to respond to the outbreak. Rapid response teams from the national and provincial levels have been deployed to Bikoro to carry out case investigation, trace contacts, put in place case management and other control measures.
