University Surge Support Group (USSG)

Humanitarian Aid is a field that increasingly receives attention at universities and colleges. More and more students and youth are interested in contributing their skills, knowledge and expertise to support those in need and the humanitarian community in general. Students from a wide variety of backgrounds are investigating, developing, experimenting and innovating topics in field of humanitarian aid. This next generation is eager to get involved!
However, it is not always easy for this new generation to connect with humanitarian organizations. Or -vice versa- for humanitarian organizations to tap into this potential. The University Surge Support Group (USSG) is a new initiative that aims to connect the next generation of humanitarians with the current operations and challenges in the field.

Tomorrow’s humanitarians & Today's challenges

The State of the Art of the Humanitarian system’ ALNAP report outlines several developments and challenges for the humanitarian community. To get ready for these changes we need to work with tomorrow’s generation of humanitarians who are working on the challenges today.
We invite students (bachelor, master, phd) from all disciplines to join HNPW 2019 and share their thoughts with humanitarians. It will be an opportunity for students from different disciplines to show and share their work / research with experienced humanitarian actors during various activities.
