Turkey earthquake 6.6(RS) magnitude, 30 Oct 2020

1. An earthquake of 6.6 magnitude occurred in the Aegean Sea on 30 October 2020 (13:51 local time, 11:51 UTC), with its epicenter off the coast of Seferihisar district of Izmir province. The earthquake caused great panic in Izmir and neighboring provinces. Reportedly some houses were destroyed, many buildings and infrastructure were damaged.
2. Hospitals, fire brigade, police and medical teams went into alarm.
3. Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 6.8.

No reports of casualties or impact at this stage.
AFAD and TRC have teams in Izmir and have already been mobilized to distribute water, bread, blankets, etc. and to identify the needs as well.
 Status of request for assistance
The international support is not required at this stage but AFAD will inform in case the situation turns out to be much worse than they had anticipated.
