Situation overview
Attached is the situation report from the Government on the two main aftershocks that occurred on 18 May (6.7M, 32km depth, 2h57 local time, and 6.8M, 31km depth, 11h46 local time) with epicenters in the cantons of Quinindé, Muisne and Pedernales. Status of request of assistance
The Government of Ecuador requested assistance from the UN and in consultation with the UN Resident Coordinator, an UNDAC team was specifically requested to support in assessment and coordination of the response. The Government of Ecuador has accepted bilateral assistance, requesting however all assistance providers to obtain prior specific authorisation from the Government of Ecuador, through the National Risk Management Secretariat or relevant ministry (MoH for Medical Teams) USAR: The Government of Ecuador requests all international USAR teams not yet deployed to stand down. There is no more need for international USAR teams. For the time being there is no more need for international EMTs. Should there be further needs, the Ministry of Health will inform the EMT community and asks all EMTs to be ready to register with the CICOM (EMT Information and Health Coordination Unit), through the agreed procedure using the attached form.
