Heat has become an increasing concern for the humanitarian community.
Not only do high temperatures, particularly when associated with high humidity,
threaten health, the current options available to deal with this hazard are not
well developed or, where developed, not widely deployed.

The session will open with a conceptual presentation of how
heat and high humidity affect people, with the linkages to humanitarian assistance.
This will be followed by an open discussion of the conceptual presentation and
then move small group work to identify key actions needed to address heat and
humidity risks across the humanitarian effort. A summary report on the key actions
will be developed following the session. The session is being sponsored by the
Global Shelter Cluster Heat Working Group, but the focus is cross-cluster using
the settlements or area-based approach as a starting point, recognizing that
single sector actions are not likely to reduce the risks posed by high
temperatures and humidity.
