There is an increasing understanding that community engagement is vital for effective, efficient and accountable aid, and yet, in these resource stretched times, there is a danger that accountability to people affected by crisis and all that entails is put to the side.
Now more than ever, it is essential to unite in examining and leveraging the evidence and impact of community engagement. By showcasing its effectiveness and aligning the sector’s capacity to measure it, we can collectively reinforce and amplify the transformative potential of community engagement and accountability approaches.
This event aims to: 1. discuss progress made on addressing gaps in measuring the impact of community engagement in humanitarian action.2. explore how the sector is doing in terms of demonstrating collective accountability and its effectiveness, the existing initiatives, their results and challenges; it will be the opportunity to reflect on what more could be done to leverage evidence linked to collective accountability to people and communities affected by crises. Ultimately, the event will create a collaborative space to reflect on defining and measuring impact, while exploring why investments in community engagement and accountability have yet to demonstrate their full returns. It will examine how accountability drives impact in meaningful ways for communities and, through practical tools and insights from partners, work toward a shared vision for enhancing and demonstrating impact.
