Session title: Navigating Change: Managing the Transition from Political Missions and Peace Operations
25 Mar 25 14:00-15:30   (Amphitheatre D bis)

SessionAbstract

The transition from peace operations presents both challenges and opportunities for ensuring security in crisis-affected regions. In such dynamic contexts, where security services may not be provided at sufficient levels, the security vacuum created may be exploited by threat actors, resulting in additional or significant humanitarian access and delivery challenges, as well as increased security risk. Further, DPO and DPPA missions usually provide additional or supplementary support and logistical services such as medical facilities, transportation, security training, and response capacity, which are often not available upon their withdrawal.

The session will address the gaps, opportunities arising from these challenges with experts from Civil-military coordination, security and donors.
