SessionAbstract

Countable? The humanitarian sector is deeply impacted by the US funding freeze which together with cuts from other donors has reduced humanitarian funding with more than 40%. Scarce resources drives a need for prioritisation and leads to very difficult decisions. But how do you make the right decisions, when the data streams that underpin humanitarian decision-making and response are about to collapse because they also have been de-funded?

Humanitarian action is driven by data: statistical information guides decisions on where, when, and how to respond to crises. Moreover, these data streams are not independent but deeply interwoven: the failure of one can trigger cascading failures across multiple domains.

What does data collection and analysis look like in a disrupted humanitarian sector? How will the sector pivot without the data to understand how crises are evolving? How can we do more with less?

These are some of the questions that ACAPS, ACLED, Ground Truth Solutions, HERE Geneva and Humanitarian Outcomes will seek to answer in this panel.
