As disasters become more frequent and overlapping, primary care facilities and providers require accessible, evidence-based resources on the health impacts of climate change to effectively prepare for and support their patients. Co-creation and local adaptation are critical for developing educational tools tailored for primary healthcare providers. Understanding the specific needs of these providers, along with the limitations imposed by their practice environments, is essential.

In the Philippines, Americares and Harvard C-Change are collaborating with over 30 stakeholders, including national and sub-national government representatives, clinics, universities, NGOs, and the WHO, to develop a co-created toolkit for primary healthcare. This collaborative process ensures that the toolkit is grounded in local priorities and focuses on adaptation solutions relevant to the Filipino context. In partnership with the Philippines Department of Health, the toolkit will be scaled up for nationwide implementation.

This initiative, funded by private donors, exemplifies how the private sector can effectively support locally-led adaptation efforts, providing much-needed assistance to local governments and healthcare institutions.
