Session title: Geo-Enablement of National Disaster Management Organisations
Organizer(s): Esri, MapAction, iMMAP
18 Mar 25 15:00-16:00

SessionAbstract

National Disaster Management Organisations (NDMOs) play a critical role in mitigating disaster impacts and coordinating humanitarian response. In resource-constrained settings however, limited access to advanced geospatial tools and expertise often hampers their ability to respond effectively. This webinar highlights the transformative potential of geospatial capacity development in enabling NDMOs to lead disaster management processes while maintaining alignment with national development goals, safeguarding national ownership and providing a coherent national framework for localisation of humanitarian response to take place.

We will showcase Esri’s innovative Geo-enablement program, designed to equip NDMOs with cutting-edge geospatial tools tailored to their operational needs. Additionally, insights will be shared from impactful geospatial capacity development initiatives led by MapAction and iMMAP, which have developed practical approaches to building local capacities in mapping, data analysis, and disaster planning.

Join us to explore how geospatial technologies can serve as a cornerstone for humanitarian localisation while fostering national development and self-reliance in disaster management.
