SessionAbstract

The need for local communities to drive decision-making in humanitarian action is now urgent. As crises continue to converge, funds dry up, and climate change wreaks havoc across every continent, the way the sector approaches 'prioritisation' needs a radical shake-up. Laundry-list needs assessments, opaque decisions and supply-driven aid can no longer be the norm, or the risk of harm will drastically outweigh the potential to support communities facing their toughest challenges yet. With a year's worth of views shared by people living on the frontlines of crisis as the starting point, Ground Truth Solutions will gather local thinkers, doers and disrupters to discuss how prioritisation can be better done at the community level, and the potential cost of not supporting this.
