The aim of this session is to discuss each current Cluster approach when it comes to manage their waste during humanitarian emergencies. The session speakers will share which are the current responsibilities and gaps each cluster & cluster partner has to reduce, collect/transport, manage (reuse, repurpose, recycle), and safely dispose of waste and unusable items. Session speakers and participants will also discuss new responsibilities which can be implemented to coordinate and collaboratively find solutions for an effective management of waste in emergencies. This session will follow a “connected talks” format with each member giving a 7-8-minute overview of their Cluster’s approach followed by an open discussion to the general question of “How to approach waste management more effectively during emergencies?” The Global Logistics Cluster will lead the session with participation from relevant focal points and experts from other Cluster-lead agencies. Panelists: Global Cluster representatives: WASH, Shelter, CCCM, Food Security, Health and Logistics.
