Session title: "Pressure points": Manage your stress response and remain in control at the frontlines of humanitarian action
Organizer(s): CCHN
30 Apr 24 11:00-12:30

SessionAbstract

Humanitarian professionals are very often exposed to complex, high-stakes situations.

As part of their role, they must make difficult decisions quickly, negotiate with tough counterparts, and ensure the safety of the people involved in the humanitarian response - all the while remaining in control of the situation and maintaining a leadership role for their teams.

This kind of situation can easily generate feelings of stress and anxiety, which ultimately have a negative impact on the outcome of the humanitarian operation.

During this interactive and informal session, you will hear about our research on the pressure management challenges of experienced humanitarians and learn helpful methods to manage your stress response, while also supporting your team in doing the same.

We will provide an opportunity to exchange on the topic and put your pressure management skills to the test through a short simulation.
