‘Anticipatory Action in 2023: A Global Overview’ is the second edition in a series of annual reports that capture the status of anticipatory action worldwide. Published by the Anticipation Hub, this report provides practitioners, scientists, communities, donors and policy-makers with an evidence-based analysis of operational trends, developments and gaps in anticipatory action during 2023. Through extensive data collection, it summarizes the main elements of the anticipatory action frameworks in place worldwide, as well as those under development; it also records which of these frameworks were activated during the year.

Building on the launch event for this report series (held at HNPW in 2023), this session will highlight the emerging trends that are indicated by a comparison of the two annual data sets (2022 and 2023). Panellists will be invited to share their reflections on these data and trends, while the online and in-person audience will also be asked to reflect on the report’s main findings: what these mean, and what should happen next to continue the expansion of anticipatory action worldwide.
