SessionAbstract

The climate emergency is intensifying development and humanitarian needs, surpassing the capability of the current aid system which is already under stress. Anticipatory action allows more effective delivery where pre-emptive humanitarian interventions, based on forecasts, can save lives and livelihoods. This session will share the latest advances in risk understanding as a means to inform anticipatory action. It will also showcase how different types of financing have been used for anticipatory action and discuss the global trends in humanitarian financing.
