SessionAbstract

The aim of this session is to examine the advancements of the humanitarian supply chain sector in embracing circular economy practices and explore how a collaborative approach can expedite this transition. Through insights from various humanitarian organizations, we will investigate collaborative efforts with internal and external stakeholders and how these efforts have supported with integration of circular approaches. The event seeks to highlight success stories, offering valuable insights into overcoming challenges encountered during the adoption of circular practices in the humanitarian supply chain sector.

Key questions:

  • Who should initiate circular economy approaches within the organisation? Should this come from the leadership, Programme, Supply Chain, Procurement?
  • Should the conversations start at the country level or global level?
  • How should you start to adopt circular economy for core relief items?
  • How are humanitarian organisations engaging proactively with suppliers to identify innovative solutions and what is the role procurement plays in your organisation?
  • What challenges have humanitarians faced when engaging with suppliers to adopt circular economy practices?
  • Have you been in a situation where you need to assess the market because your suppliers do not have the right capability to support your circular economy efforts?
  • Have you implemented incentivization models with your suppliers to increase engagement and innovation?
  • What is the most efficient way to measure the impact of implementing circular economy solutions?
