The Inter-agency Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Surge Mechanism is an initiative established in 2020 by the IASC MHPSS Reference Group and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. It facilitates rapid deployments to establish or strengthen MHPSS coordination structures in humanitarian crises. This session will offer insights into the mechanism and the effectiveness of more than 50 country-level deployments to date. Additionally, the session will provide practical steps that humanitarian organizations, donors, and MHPSS professionals can take to join the MHPSS Surge Mechanism.
