Session title: HNPW 2026 - Opening Ceremony
2 Mar 26 11:00-12:00

SessionAbstract

HNPW 2026 will officially launch on 2 March 2026 with a remote Opening Ceremony from 11:00-12:00 CET (10:00-11:00 UTC).

The event will be hybrid and run from 2 to 12 March 2026. The first week, from 2 to 6 March 2026, will be online, and face-to-face sessions will take place Tuesday to Thursday, 10 to 12 March 2026 at the International Conference Centre in Geneva (CICG).

HNPW 2026 comes at an unprecedented time for the international community and humanitarian action, and we are therefore very pleased to convene this year's event as an important platform for humanitarian practitioners to meet, discuss and collectively identify solutions to current challenges.

Reflecting the financial crisis, the in-person event in Geneva has been shortened to three days instead of the usual five. We have also introduced a new element in form of a central Community Day on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, to bring networks and partners together to discuss the humanitarian issues and areas of common concern to create solution-oriented actions for improving the humanitarian system.

Speakers:

  • Mr. Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, OCHA
  • Mr. Dominik Stillhart, Deputy Director General and Head of Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
  • Ms. Anzhelika Bielova, President of Association of Roma Women, Ukraine
  • Ms. Nimo Hassan, Director of Somali NGO Consortium and Chairwoman of ICVA Board, Somalia
  • Mr. John Ede, President of Ohaha Family Foundation, Nigeria
  • Ms. Raquel Weintraub, Network Manager of Sphere, Mexico

The Opening Session will be moderated by Ms. Sarah Muscroft, Chief of the Response Support Branch, Crisis Response Division, OCHA
