Session title: Youth Participation in Humanitarian Aid

SessionAbstract

What is it like to be involved as a youth in humanitarian aid organizations? This will be an interactive online discussion on exactly that topic. We will hear from the following engaged youth already making a difference in the sector:

  • Ngoc Vu, Doctoral Researcher at the Hanken School of Economics, who will share her experience working in youth education camps in Kenya, her motivation to pursue this sector in research, and challenges when pursuing these goals.
  • Matilde Angela Paganini, IASC Secretariat Intern, who will share about her path and experiences that have led her to pursue a UN internship.
  • Amouki Kaayou, MA International Humanitarian Action, who will share about his experiences as an OCHA Humanitarian Affairs Intern, as well as what led him there.
  • Hannah Fruhstorfer, MA Political Science, who will share about her experience as an Emergency Response Section intern, and what led her there.
  • Samir Al-Omari, Project Officer at Accion contra el Hambre, speaking from Tbilisi, Georgia, on both the transition into the sector, as well as his first jobs out of studies that have shaped his experience.
