Purpose of the session:

The unprovoked and unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused terrible
human suffering and massive destruction of towns and communities. Same time
Ukraine is at risk of hydrometeorological hazards and natural disasters, which
primarily affect the agricultural and human health sectors, through seasonal
flooding and periods of drought. Threats from riverine, urban floods and
wildfires are considered high.

The climate innovation laboratories unites five higher education institutions and three
research organisations under the theme of climate in Ukraine, Finland, Lithuanian,
Romania and Bulgaria. They will develop research-and-innovation projects based
on pre-defined mission areas for climate actions.

The seminar is looking for new forms of collaboration in humanitarian crisis situations.

Expected outcomes of the session:

• Outcome 1. Find solutions how strengthen human capital in climate innovations during
crisis time.

• Outcome 2. Identified community-driven solutions that increase human security.

• Outcome 3. Find solutions how increase an information about the climate security and
how we can manage and mitigate climate risks.
